(Pictured left) Tom Mattausch is one half of the FlowMotion art design team. Beyond mosaic masonry, his specialty is ceramics, having studied this medium from age nine through his double major/double minor graduation from Seattle Pacific University. Pre-FlowMotion art career highlights include experimenting with exotic porcelain rakú firings, receiving First Prize in his division at the 1999 Shoreline Arts Festival (his art’s only submission to a judged show), and many happy hours spent focused on a rotating lump of clay.
Tom’s talents in ceramics were recognized early on by his artistic mentor, Jo-Ann VanReeuwyk (current Professor of Art at Calvin College and active artist), who has frequently requested his creative assistance in instructing high school classes. A highly developed concept of form resulted from his intimate acquaintance with the clay medium, which enables him to visualize and implement stone works in groundbreaking ways.
Garth Murray is an award winning, published artist (Licton Springs Review web version) whose artistic talents extend through metal work, sculpting, painting, printmaking, and stonework. This extensive knowledge base gives FlowMotion the capability to realize highly creative multi-media designs.
Tom & Garth are both dedicated to utilizing and expanding their abilities by exploring new frontiers in landscape art installations.
